Kerala Kalamandalam is a residential university for Art and Culture, famous for preserving the classical arts of Kerala, especially Kathakali and Mohiniyattam. Founded by the poet Vallathol Narayana Menon, it follows the traditional Gurukula Sampradaya. Specialty: The campus is situated on the banks of the Nila River, providing a serene environment for learning. They teach Kathakali (acting, makeup, and costumes), Koodiyattam, Thullal, and classical percussion instruments like Chenda and Mridangam. It is a living museum of Kerala's artistic heritage.
