Founded in 1936 by Rukmini Devi Arundale, Kalakshetra is a national treasure and an "Institute of National Importance." It is the gold standard for Bharatanatyam and Carnatic Music. The campus spans 100 acres by the sea, offering a Gurukul-style atmosphere where students live and breathe art. Specialty: They offer diploma and post-diploma courses in Bharatanatyam, Carnatic Vocal, and Visual Arts. The training is rigorous, focusing on the "Kalakshetra Style"—known for its geometric precision in dance.
